Re: My DM2000 Rig « Result #3 on Nov 13, 2006, 7:05am »
Hi Dean,
My rig is a bit simpler. I am using my DM2k with a USB link to my PC that was custom built by one of my crew (Ryan). Using Yamaha's Studio Manager with N-Track and Cubase and MIDI software Ryan wrote for me to run WinAmp via the DM2k's transport controls. I am using this rig at my regular job at a performing arts theater where I am Technical Director but also use it for outside private contracts I do. I also have the Studio Master software on my home computer so I can do I/O and effects patches as well as channel soft patches and labels in advance of up coming shows... in the comfort of my TV room. I was first introduced to the DM2k by Kathy Matea's FOH guy as they also used them for FOH and monitor world.

Jon I haven't tried mixing 5.1 live but I'm sure it would be great to the one audience member who is lucky enough to be seated at the focal point. I would kinda pity the folks in the back of the room though. Actually, I know Pink Floyd and others have used a live quad system quite effectively over the years for special effects but I don't know of anyone else currently mixing 5.1. live. Good luck

Hi Steve
No, I'm not currently controlling the HD24 from the Dm2K basically because during a 2 1/2 hr show there is more than ample opportunity to reach for something and inadvertantly hit the transport panel. This happened during a rehearsal and I immediately unhooked the midi. I found it safer, in a live situation, to simply reach down and hit play/rec on the HD24.
Do setup the control however is very simple. Just hook up your midi in and out. Set up your device ID numbers. I seem to remember that yamaha and alesis start with different numbers. One of them start with 0 and one of them start with 1. I'm not at my console currently and can't remember which. Set up transport control to MTR and rock on. It's pretty much all in the manual except the ID number thing. Hope this helps. Let me know.

Hi Dean, I like your setup. We just installed a system like this (DM-2000, HD24, ML9600) in our contempory worhsip space at church. I am still learning the board (Lots of fun, moments of complete terror). One thing I would like to do is use the DM-2000 to control the HD24. Are you doing this ?? Can you point me to some doc. that may help.
Live 5.1 setup « Result #10 on Oct 2, 2004, 1:42pm »
Anybody doing a live 5.1 surround setup? Not to get into the obvious arguments on doing this, basically I have a movie event in our theatre (usually used for live bands) and I'd like to setup the theatre for that, and wondered what setups (if any) are working out there. Celine Dion's comes to mind, but they use a different board for that one.
